Jo Gamble is a highly respected Advanced Functional Medicine Practitioner, University Lecturer, Nutritional Therapist, and Integrative Oncology Fellow, with a ‘no stone unturned’ approach to even the most complex health challenges. She is especially known for her expertise in Functional Testing and Interpretation — the ability to look beyond the numbers and uncover what your results really mean for your health.
Jo was the UK’s first practitioner to graduate in Nutritional Genomics from the Institute for Functional Medicine and now trains other practitioners in the field, making her one of the leading authorities in functional test interpretation in the UK. Jo offers functional test interpretation by request only, ensuring results are explored in depth and her expertise is incorporated into our Integrative Health Plans.
Her journey into this work was deeply personal. When her daughter was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases at just 19 months old and required years of chemotherapy, Jo saw first-hand the gaps in conventional care. She wanted more than fragmented answers — she wanted to understand the why. That drive to find the root causes of illness continues to shape her work today.
Clients benefit not only from Jo’s wealth of scientific knowledge, particularly in genetics, cancer, and nutrition, but also from her ability to translate complex information into practical steps that make sense. Alongside her busy clinical practice, she is a sought-after lecturer, teaching graduate and postgraduate students internationally and sharing the same expertise she brings to her patients every day.
Jo graduated with a degree in Behavioural Therapy, specialising in children with autism and complex learning difficulties before transitioning to study Nutritional Therapy at The College of Naturopathic Medicine. She completed her training in Functional Medicine at the Institute for Functional Medicine, becoming the first practitioner in the UK to graduate in Nutrigenomics. Faced with an increasing number of clients affected by cancer, Jo continued her pursuit of knowledge,, becoming a Fellow in Integrative Cancer Care, and graduating as a Metabolic Approach to Cancer Practitioner under Dr Nasha Winters. She has over a decade’s experience, providing person-centred, integrative support for people on their journey with cancer.
Jo offers a range of specialised services including Integrative Cancer Support, Genomic Testing and precision supplementation and Nutrition. As Head of Functional Testing, she ensures The Forbes Clinic maintains the highest standard of functional testing and interpretation. Her practice aims to create a deeply personalised roadmap for health, focusing on uncovering and addressing the root causes of illness to guide individuals back to full health.
