Dr. Sheila Richards is a UK-licenced medical Doctor and respected Integrative and Functional Medicine Doctor dedicated to educating and empowering her patients to take control of their own health. She believes in creating a healing partnership where each patient is treated as an individual, and their unique needs are at the centre of their health journey.
Dr. Richards offers a comprehensive approach to managing chronic disease through Functional Medicine, combining advanced genetic, nutritional, and digestive screening with a systems biology approach. Patients seek her expertise to manage symptoms that have not been effectively treated by conventional medicine, or when they wish to avoid or cannot tolerate prescribed medications.
With a focus on personalised care, Dr. Richards empowers her patients to make sustainable lifestyle and dietary changes that not only alleviate current health issues but also optimise their future well-being. Her approach aims to identify the ‘root cause’ of symptoms, addressing underlying imbalances that often go undetected in traditional medicine, enabling her patients to achieve lasting health improvements and a life free of chronic illness and medications.
Dr. Sheila Richards holds an MBBS and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP), as well as a certified GP appraiser. She is also a licensed Homeopathic Doctor (LFHom) and holds a Diploma in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (DCMAc). She completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG) and earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (PGCME).
Dr. Richards is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP), receiving advanced training in Functional Medicine to address the root causes of illness through dietary, environmental, and lifestyle modifications. Additionally, Dr. Richards has trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which has enhanced her understanding of how communication and mindset impact healing. Her interest in the mind-body connection led her to pursue Psycho-Neuro-Immunology (PNI), further deepening her approach to health and recovery. As an active member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), Dr. Richards also contributes to healthcare policy decisions. Her broad qualifications and ongoing commitment to learning ensure she provides the latest, evidence-based treatments in her practice.
