Unlike standard swab testing that only screens for selected organisms, this comprehensive NGS test maps your full vaginal microbiome with 99.99% accuracy. This advanced at-home vaginal swab test identifies ALL good bacteria, bad bacteria and yeast, present within your sample. It provides highly personalised insight into vaginal microbiome balance and reproductive health to support your intimate health.
This test may be particularly useful for individuals experiencing recurrent vaginal infections, thrush, BV, irritation, odour, or unusual discharge. It may also help guide functional support for fertility and reproductive health.

Many vaginal health tests only screen for a limited number of organisms. This can leave important microbiome imbalances undiscovered and may not fully explain ongoing or recurring symptoms. This advanced Vaginal Microbiome Health Test uses next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology to analyse all detectable bacteria, yeast, and fungi present within your sample. Unlike standard swab or PCR testing, NGS provides a much broader and more detailed picture of your vaginal microbiome.
The vaginal microbiome plays an important role in reproductive, hormonal, urinary, and intimate health. Disruptions in microbial balance may contribute to symptoms such as irritation, unusual discharge, odour, recurring thrush, BV-related symptoms, or ongoing vaginal discomfort.
Functional medicine practitioners use microbiome testing to explore patterns linked to protective Lactobacillus bacteria, microbial diversity, yeast overgrowth, inflammation, and recurrent microbiome disruption. These insights can help guide more personalised functional medicine support and targeted health interventions.
This test may be suitable for people who:
Comprehensive NGS Microbiome Sequencing: Uses advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology to analyse all detectable bacteria, yeast, and fungi present within the sample with 99.99% accuracy. Unlike standard PCR or culture-based testing, NGS sequencing provides a much broader and more comprehensive picture of the vaginal microbiome. It can identify microorganisms at species level, including organisms present in lower abundances that standard testing methods may miss.
ALL Lactobacillus (Protective bacteria) Present in the Sample: Lactobacillus bacteria are generally considered protective and play an important role in supporting vaginal microbiome balance and reproductive health. Examples include: Lactobacillus crispatus, Lactobacillus jensenii, Lactobacillus gasseri and Lactobacillus iners.
ALL Commensal & Pathogenic Bacteria Present in the Sample: These bacteria may be associated with infection or symptomatic changes to the reproductive organs. Examples include: Mycoplasma species, Gardnerella vaginalis, Streptococcus species, Prevotella species, and Atopobium vaginae
ALL Yeast and Fungal Species Present in the Sample: These species may be associated with recurrent thrush, Candida overgrowth, and microbiome disruption. Examples include: Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, Aspergillus species.
Turnaround times vary depending on the test. We aim to process and submit your order to our provider within 2 working days. Test kits are promptly dispatched, and most samples can be collected and returned as soon as you're ready. Some tests may have specific requirements, such as timing around menstruation or return days. These details can be found under "How do I prepare for the test?" and in your kit. Estimated turnaround times refer to how long it takes to analyse your sample once it’s received at the laboratory.
All at-home test kits include clear instructions for sample collection and return, along with necessary packaging. Some tests require you to return the sample on specific days or immediately after collection. Most kits include pre-paid return labels, but some may require you to arrange a prepaid courier collection. Review the instructions carefully before collecting your sample and refer to the contact details in your kit for any questions.
Your kit will come with full instructions and some include video guides. We can support with queries and we encourage you to contact us using the link below before collecting your sample to ensure it can be effectively analysed.
We offer functional testing with and without practitioner interpretation. You can filter tests by consultation on the Functional Testing page. Certain tests, especially those involving clinically significant biomarkers, are only available with interpretation, and some require interpretation by an Integrative Medicine Doctor. We’ll ensure you’re seen by the right practitioner when your results are in. You can purchase a consultation later if you choose standalone testing, but we offer preferential rates for booking upfront.
We provide functional testing to help you make informed health decisions but do not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Results are interpreted through a nutritional, lifestyle, and functional medicine perspective, and it is your responsibility to seek further evaluation, diagnosis or treatment from your primary healthcare provider.
Your digital results report will include indicators of how your specific results differ or align with ‘optimal’ ranges in functional medicine. Some reports include an element of written interpretation. If you’ve purchased a consultation we’ll explain your results and interpret them from a nutritional, lifestyle and functional medicine perspective. We may offer suggestions about how Integrative or Functional Medicine can help and can refer you for full consultation or Integrative Health Assessment with a relevant practitioner if desired. If your test includes a clinically significant biomarker and your result is abnormal, we’ll direct you to consult your primary healthcare provider. If you haven’t purchased a consultation and you’re concerned about your results, you’ll be able to opt-in at this stage.
