Discover what’s really happening within your urinary microbiome with this comprehensive urine microbiome test. Using advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS), the test identifies all bacteria and yeast present within your sample, including beneficial, commensal and potentially harmful microorganisms.
This test may be particularly useful for individuals experiencing recurrent urinary tract infections, persistent bladder symptoms, urinary discomfort or those looking to better understand factors affecting urinary, reproductive and pelvic health. Unlike conventional testing, which looks for a limited number of organisms, this test provides a comprehensive view of your urinary microbiome to help guide more personalised health decisions.

The urinary microbiome is a complex ecosystem of bacteria and yeast that plays an important role in bladder health, pelvic health and the body’s natural defence against infection. Your urinary microbiome can impact other systems too, such as vaginal health, and even fertility. Many urinary and bladder symptoms can be frustrating, recurrent and difficult to fully explain. Traditional testing methods often focus on a small number of organisms, which can leave important pieces of the picture undiscovered.
The Urine Microbiome Health Test uses advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology to identify all bacteria and yeast present within your sample with 99.99% accuracy. This includes beneficial bacteria, naturally occurring commensal organisms, opportunistic microbes and potentially harmful species.
By providing a comprehensive overview of your urinary microbiome, this test may help support more targeted antio-biotic use and identify microbial imbalances that could be contributing to recurrent infections, bladder symptoms, inflammation or ongoing urinary or reproductive health concerns. Results are accompanied by a detailed repor. Optional interpretation by a qualified practitioner is available if needed to support next steps.
If you’re concerned about fertility you might consider taking this test alongside our Vaginal Microbiome Test, or booking a consultation with fertility and women’s health specialist, Anga Gonzalez.

This test uses advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology to analyse all detectable bacteria, yeast, and fungi present within the sample with 99.99% accuracy. Unlike standard PCR or culture-based testing, NGS sequencing provides a much broader and more comprehensive picture of the urinary microbiome. It can identify microorganisms at species level, including organisms present in lower abundances that standard testing methods may miss. The test analyses:
Beneficial Bacteria: Identifies all Lactobacillus species present within the sample. Lactobacillus bacteria are often associated with a healthy and balanced urinary and reproductive microbiome.
Commensal Bacteria: Identifies naturally occurring bacteria that form part of the urinary microbiome. Understanding their relative abundance can help build a more complete picture of microbiome health.
Pathogenic Bacteria: Screens for potentially harmful bacteria that may contribute to urinary symptoms, infections and microbial imbalance. Includes organisms such as Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, Streptococcus species and bacteria associated with bacterial vaginosis, alongside all other detectable bacterial species.
Pathobionts: Identifies microorganisms that may normally exist in low numbers but can contribute to symptoms or imbalance when overgrowth occurs.
Yeast & Fungi: Screens for all detectable yeast and fungal species, including Candida species and fungi such as Aspergillus.
Relative Species Abundance: Measures the relative percentage of each organism present, providing a detailed overview of the urinary microbiome rather than simply reporting whether organisms are present or absent.

You’ll be invited to join our online portal, Practice Better, where you can receive secure communication from us. You digital results report will be ready approximately 25 days from receipt of your sample at the lab. Once received, we’ll share your results within the secure portal and invite you to book your consultation with a qualified practitioner.

Turnaround times vary depending on the test. We aim to process and submit your order to our provider within 2 working days. Test kits are promptly dispatched, and most samples can be collected and returned as soon as you're ready. Some tests may have specific requirements, such as timing around menstruation or return days. These details can be found under "How do I prepare for the test?" and in your kit. Estimated turnaround times refer to how long it takes to analyse your sample once it’s received at the laboratory.
All at-home test kits include clear instructions for sample collection and return, along with necessary packaging. Some tests require you to return the sample on specific days or immediately after collection. Most kits include pre-paid return labels, but some may require you to arrange a prepaid courier collection. Review the instructions carefully before collecting your sample and refer to the contact details in your kit for any questions.
Your kit will come with full instructions and some include video guides. We can support with queries and we encourage you to contact us using the link below before collecting your sample to ensure it can be effectively analysed.
We offer functional testing with and without practitioner interpretation. You can filter tests by consultation on the Functional Testing page. Certain tests, especially those involving clinically significant biomarkers, are only available with interpretation, and some require interpretation by an Integrative Medicine Doctor. We’ll ensure you’re seen by the right practitioner when your results are in. You can purchase a consultation later if you choose standalone testing, but we offer preferential rates for booking upfront.
We provide functional testing to help you make informed health decisions but do not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Results are interpreted through a nutritional, lifestyle, and functional medicine perspective, and it is your responsibility to seek further evaluation, diagnosis or treatment from your primary healthcare provider.
Your digital results report will include indicators of how your specific results differ or align with ‘optimal’ ranges in functional medicine. Some reports include an element of written interpretation. If you’ve purchased a consultation we’ll explain your results and interpret them from a nutritional, lifestyle and functional medicine perspective. We may offer suggestions about how Integrative or Functional Medicine can help and can refer you for full consultation or Integrative Health Assessment with a relevant practitioner if desired. If your test includes a clinically significant biomarker and your result is abnormal, we’ll direct you to consult your primary healthcare provider. If you haven’t purchased a consultation and you’re concerned about your results, you’ll be able to opt-in at this stage.
