Nutrigenomics explores how your genes interact with nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This interaction is known as epigenetics. It helps explain why different people can respond differently to the same foods, diets, exercise plans, supplements, stressors, or health protocols.
Your DNA contains small genetic variations called SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms). These variations can influence metabolism, appetite, inflammation, blood sugar regulation, detoxification, energy production, and much more.
Your genes are not your destiny. Lifestyle, sleep, stress, movement, nutrition, and environmental exposures can all influence how genes are expressed. Nutrigenomics helps provide deeply personalised insight into these pathways so you can make informed and targeted health choices to support long-term health.

Unlike standard metabolic markers, your DNA does not change over time. This means your results can provide lifelong insight into how your body responds to food, exercise, fasting, stress, supplements, and environmental factors.
This test helps move beyond trial and error. It can help explain why some people struggle with weight regulation, energy, inflammation, blood sugar balance, or poor response to diet and exercise despite making healthy lifestyle changes.
It can be a powerful test for anyone living with a related chronic illness, inflammatory condition or disease.
You’ll receive comprehensive digital results with personalised genomic insights and recommendations.

Functional medicine practitioners use Nutrigenomics to inform more personalised nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation strategies tailored to your unique metabolic profile.
Your DNA sample will be anonymised before processing at the UK lab. DNA samples and genotyping data are permanently destroyed after strict retention periods. For more information please read our Privacy Policy.
Adults and children who:
The test analyses genetic variations called SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms). These SNPs can influence metabolism, appetite, blood sugar regulation, inflammation, detoxification, cardiovascular health, and energy production.
SNPs are not viewed as a diagnosis or destiny. Instead, they provide insight into how your body may function and where personalised support may help optimise health outcomes.

You’ll be invited to join our online portal, Practice Better, where you can receive secure communication from us. Your results will be ready in approximately 2 weeks after your sample is received by the lab. Once your results are in we’ll share them with you via the portal where you can securely view and download. You’ll also be able to book an option consultation with a Functional Medicine Practitioner at this time.
See our Privacy Policy for information about how your data will be processed by The Forbes Clinic and our third party testing suppliers.
Turnaround times vary depending on the test. We aim to process and submit your order to our provider within 2 working days. Test kits are promptly dispatched, and most samples can be collected and returned as soon as you're ready. Some tests may have specific requirements, such as timing around menstruation or return days. These details can be found under "How do I prepare for the test?" and in your kit. Estimated turnaround times refer to how long it takes to analyse your sample once it’s received at the laboratory.
All at-home test kits include clear instructions for sample collection and return, along with necessary packaging. Some tests require you to return the sample on specific days or immediately after collection. Most kits include pre-paid return labels, but some may require you to arrange a prepaid courier collection. Review the instructions carefully before collecting your sample and refer to the contact details in your kit for any questions.
Your kit will come with full instructions and some include video guides. We can support with queries and we encourage you to contact us using the link below before collecting your sample to ensure it can be effectively analysed.
We offer functional testing with and without practitioner interpretation. You can filter tests by consultation on the Functional Testing page. Certain tests, especially those involving clinically significant biomarkers, are only available with interpretation, and some require interpretation by an Integrative Medicine Doctor. We’ll ensure you’re seen by the right practitioner when your results are in. You can purchase a consultation later if you choose standalone testing, but we offer preferential rates for booking upfront.
We provide functional testing to help you make informed health decisions but do not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Results are interpreted through a nutritional, lifestyle, and functional medicine perspective, and it is your responsibility to seek further evaluation, diagnosis or treatment from your primary healthcare provider.
Your digital results report will include indicators of how your specific results differ or align with ‘optimal’ ranges in functional medicine. Some reports include an element of written interpretation. If you’ve purchased a consultation we’ll explain your results and interpret them from a nutritional, lifestyle and functional medicine perspective. We may offer suggestions about how Integrative or Functional Medicine can help and can refer you for full consultation or Integrative Health Assessment with a relevant practitioner if desired. If your test includes a clinically significant biomarker and your result is abnormal, we’ll direct you to consult your primary healthcare provider. If you haven’t purchased a consultation and you’re concerned about your results, you’ll be able to opt-in at this stage.
