DNA Testing & Nutrigenomics

Nutrigenomics DNA Test: Hormones Panel

Unlock personalised insight into the genetic factors that influence hormone balance throughout life. The Hormones Panel analyses 28 key genes involved in the production, metabolism and regulation of hormones including oestrogen, testosterone and cortisol.

This test may be particularly useful for individuals looking to better understand a hormone related chronic illness. It is also an excellent option for anyone concerned with energy, mood, libido, menstrual health, fertility, stress resilience and hormone-related changes associated with ageing.

Unlike standard health tests, your DNA does not change over time. This means your genetic blueprint can provide lifelong insight to help guide more personalised health choices.

Why choose this test?

Hormones influence almost every aspect of your health, from energy, mood and stress resilience to reproductive health, metabolism and healthy ageing. When hormone pathways are not functioning optimally, the effects can show up in many different ways and are often difficult to fully understand through symptoms alone.

The Hormones Panel provides insight into the genetic factors that influence how your body produces, metabolises and regulates key hormones, including oestrogen, testosterone and cortisol. By analysing hormone-related genetic variations, the test can help identify patterns that may contribute to hormone imbalance and individual differences in hormone function.

This information can provide vital information that can support informed decision making around nutrition, lifestyle and hormone health throughout your life. Unlock your genetic blue print, reduce trial and error and gain a deeper understanding of how your body works. It may be particularly valuable for individuals living with a hormone-related chronic illness or those looking to support reproductive health or hormonal symptoms.

If you’d like guidance from an expert practitioner consider booking a consultation with our Functional Medicine team for Nutrigenomics.

Your report includes:

  • Genotype results
  • Gene function summaries
  • SNP impact descriptions
  • Clinically relevant genetic variations
  • Epigenetic and lifestyle insights

Your DNA sample will be anonymised before processing at the UK lab. DNA samples and genotyping data are permanently destroyed after strict retention periods. For more information please read our Privacy Policy.

What gets tested?

Hormone Production & Balance: Assesses genetic pathways involved in the production, regulation and metabolism of key hormones that influence reproductive health, libido, muscle maintenance, energy levels and overall wellbeing. Includes: AKR1C4, CYP17A1, GABRA2, HSD11B1, SRD5A2, SULT2A1.

Oestrogen Health: Assesses pathways involved in how your body processes, uses and clears oestrogen. These pathways can influence menstrual health, fertility, PMS, menopause symptoms and hormone balance throughout life. Includes: COMT, CYP1A1, CYP1B1, CYP3A4, CYP19A1, ESR1, ESR2, MTHFR, NQO1.

Hormone Detoxification: Assesses pathways involved in breaking down and eliminating hormones from the body. Efficient hormone clearance helps support healthy hormone balance and may reduce the build-up of unwanted hormone by-products. Includes: ABCB1, GSTM1, GSTP1, SULT1A1, SULT1E1, UGT1A1.

Stress Response & Cortisol Regulation: Assesses pathways involved in cortisol production and regulation that influence how your body responds to stress and can affect energy levels, mood, sleep and resilience. Includes: ADRB1, ADRB2, FKBP5, MTNR1B, OPRM1, TCF7L2.

Reproductive Health: Assesses pathways involved in communication between the brain, pituitary gland and reproductive organs. These pathways help regulate fertility, menstrual cycles, hormone production and reproductive function. Includes: ESR1, ESR2, FAAH.

Nutrient & Hormone Interactions: Assesses genetic factors that may influence how your body uses nutrients involved in hormone production, metabolism and balance. This information can help support a more personalised approach to nutrition and supplementation. Includes markers across multiple hormone-related pathways.

FAQ's

Turnaround times vary depending on the test. We aim to process and submit your order to our provider within 2 working days. Test kits are promptly dispatched, and most samples can be collected and returned as soon as you're ready. Some tests may have specific requirements, such as timing around menstruation or return days. These details can be found under "How do I prepare for the test?" and in your kit. Estimated turnaround times refer to how long it takes to analyse your sample once it’s received at the laboratory.

All at-home test kits include clear instructions for sample collection and return, along with necessary packaging. Some tests require you to return the sample on specific days or immediately after collection. Most kits include pre-paid return labels, but some may require you to arrange a prepaid courier collection. Review the instructions carefully before collecting your sample and refer to the contact details in your kit for any questions.

Your kit will come with full instructions and some include video guides. We can support with queries and we encourage you to contact us using the link below before collecting your sample to ensure it can be effectively analysed.

We offer functional testing with and without practitioner interpretation. You can filter tests by consultation on the Functional Testing page. Certain tests, especially those involving clinically significant biomarkers, are only available with interpretation, and some require interpretation by an Integrative Medicine Doctor. We’ll ensure you’re seen by the right practitioner when your results are in. You can purchase a consultation later if you choose standalone testing, but we offer preferential rates for booking upfront.

We provide functional testing to help you make informed health decisions but do not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Results are interpreted through a nutritional, lifestyle, and functional medicine perspective, and it is your responsibility to seek further evaluation, diagnosis or treatment from your primary healthcare provider.

Your digital results report will include indicators of how your specific results differ or align with ‘optimal’ ranges in functional medicine. Some reports include an element of written interpretation. If you’ve purchased a consultation we’ll explain your results and interpret them from a nutritional, lifestyle and functional medicine perspective. We may offer suggestions about how Integrative or Functional Medicine can help and can refer you for full consultation or Integrative Health Assessment with a relevant practitioner if desired. If your test includes a clinically significant biomarker and your result is abnormal, we’ll direct you to consult your primary healthcare provider. If you haven’t purchased a consultation and you’re concerned about your results, you’ll be able to opt-in at this stage.
