Your gut barrier plays an important role in protecting your body while allowing nutrients to be absorbed. When this barrier becomes compromised, it may contribute to increased intestinal permeability, altered immune responses and ongoing digestive symptoms.
The Gut Barrier Panel measures eight immune biomarkers across four key gut barrier markers, providing insight into intestinal barrier health, immune activation and factors that may be contributing to symptoms like early dysbiosis. The results can help guide more personalised dietary and lifestyle strategies and support further investigation where appropriate.
Suitable for adults and children aged 3 years and over who are able to complete a simple finger-prick blood collection.

Zonulin: Measures IgG1-4/C3d and IgA1-2 antibodies associated with Zonulin, a marker linked to intestinal permeability and gut barrier regulation.
Occludin: Measures IgG1-4/C3d and IgA1-2 antibodies associated with Occludin, a protein involved in maintaining intestinal tight junction integrity.
Lipopolysaccharides (LPS): Measures IgG1-4/C3d and IgA1-2 antibodies to lipopolysaccharides (LPS), components of Gram-negative bacteria associated with immune activation.

We offer functional testing with and without practitioner interpretation. You can filter tests by consultation on the Functional Testing page. Certain tests, especially those involving clinically significant biomarkers, are only available with interpretation, and some require interpretation by an Integrative Medicine Doctor. We’ll ensure you’re seen by the right practitioner when your results are in. You can purchase a consultation later if you choose standalone testing, but we offer preferential rates for booking upfront.
We provide functional testing to help you make informed health decisions but do not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Results are interpreted through a nutritional, lifestyle, and functional medicine perspective, and it is your responsibility to seek further evaluation, diagnosis or treatment from your primary healthcare provider.
Your digital results report will include indicators of how your specific results differ or align with ‘optimal’ ranges in functional medicine. Some reports include an element of written interpretation. If you’ve purchased a consultation we’ll explain your results and interpret them from a nutritional, lifestyle and functional medicine perspective. We may offer suggestions about how Integrative or Functional Medicine can help and can refer you for full consultation or Integrative Health Assessment with a relevant practitioner if desired. If your test includes a clinically significant biomarker and your result is abnormal, we’ll direct you to consult your primary healthcare provider. If you haven’t purchased a consultation and you’re concerned about your results, you’ll be able to opt-in at this stage.
